 February 11, 2019 Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative ATTENTION JUNIORS:  Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative is sponsoring “Youth to Springfield” (April 3, 2019) and “Youth to Washington Tour” (June 14-21, 2019).  Each youth tour winner will also receive a $1,000 scholarship.  There is no cost to the student other than incidental expenditures for souvenirs or snacks.  Students do not have to receive electricity from SIEC to apply.  Applications are available in the guidance office.  Deadline date:  Applications must be received by February 11, 2019.    
 March 1, 2019 Murray State University  Commonwealth Honors Academy will be held June 8 to June 29, 2019.  In order to qualify for the academy, students must have:  completed the junior year of high school; a composite ACT of approximately 25 (or equivalent on the SAT, PSAT, or ACT ASPIRE), and a 3.5 GPA on the 4.0 scale; other credentials, such as community involvement, class rank, and teacher recommendations are taken into consideration in the selection process.  Upon the completion of the academy, students will:  receive six hours of university studies credit, have the opportunity to take an additional six hours of tuition-free university courses at MSU during their senior year, be awarded a four-year $2,000.00 renewable housing/leadership scholarship to attend MSU.  Applications for the 2019 academy can be downloaded from MSU’s website at http://www.murraystate.edu/cha or are available in the guidance office.  Deadline date:  March 1, 2019
March 8, 2019The Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Summer Employment Opportunities: The Shawnee National Forest Hidden Springs Ranger District EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY! Currently recruiting students to participate in the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program.  The  YCC is a summer employment program for young adults age 15 to 19, for work on the National Forest.  Enrollees will be selected on a random basis and will be paid minimum wage.  The program will begin on June 10, 2019 and end August 2, 2019.  The Forest will be filling five positions at the Jonesboro, Illinois office.  April 5, 2019City of Anna – Pool The city of Anna is looking for some responsible, motivated employees to work at the  Anna City Pool for the summer 2019.    The following positions are available:  manager, assistant manager and lifeguards.  Applications are available at Anna City Hall and are to be returned by April 5.
April 15, 2019The Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Summer Employment Opportunities: Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuge The Cypress  Creek National Wildlife Refuge will have summer positions for students 16-18 years old.  Students who are selected for these positions will be involved with a variety of work projects that may include trail maintenance, mowing, boundary posting, facility maintenance and construction, and brush clearing.   YCC Crew Members work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm for an 8 week period from June 10 to August 2, 2019. Salary is $8.25 per hour.  Applications are available in the guidance office.  Deadline date: by 4:00 pm on April 15, 2019
 May 1, 2019 SIH High School Summer Internship Program Southern Illinois Healthcare is accepting applications for the High School Summer Internship Program.  This program is open to all high school students entering their junior and senior year and graduating seniors. Qualified students are eligible for internship programs in laboratory, nursing, radiology, respiratory therapy, physical or occupational therapy, pharmacy or other healthcare career fields.  For more information check in the guidance office.
